The song Tichichema by Ammara Brown is about a woman who is in a abusive relationship who is finding the strength to leave the relationship. It was released on 2019. The track was produced by DJ Tamuka and there are various ways in which the song is all about gender based violence.

Ammara Brown's past experience influenced her to talk about gender based violence on her song Tichichema. According to The Herald:JUST IN: I want to settle down,Ammara Brown by Rebecca Kabaya Arts Reporter, it states that "songstress Ammara Brown says she has been considering getting married but the amount of abuse that her mother suffered at the hands of her father was holding her back over the past years".Due to this past experience,Ammara Brown decided to highlight the important issues faced in today's society which is gender based violence especially towards women.

The song is not only directed to the abused but also to the abusers. According to The Herald,Ammara Brown said, "My mother confessed to me about all the different forms of abuse she suffered at the hands of my father. At first it was difficult to accept. I know I am not the only person who went through this, as millions of women also went through it. These abusive people need help,as it does not mean they are totally bad people, but they need help". She is encouraging abusers to seek professional help and to stop mistreating women. If they do not seek professional help, they will end up not hurting to the women they love but also their children which can affect their lives just like it has affected Ammara Brown. This is why the song is all about gender based violence.

The lyrics of the song, Tichichema clearly shows that abuse can affect children emotionally. On the lyrics,Ammara Brown said; "...He's just a boy/How is he meant to drown the noise/You raise your voice/Hell in our home/Where is our choice/You raise your hands/Wondering why he lives in fear....". This is directed to the abusers to find help and to the abused to seek professional help because it also affects them physical, emotional and mental. This is why Ammara Brown said,"Through this song I know that at least I can change one person who has been going through abuse be it physical, emotional and mental. Usually people tend to ignore emotional and mental abuse but it really affects people the most" as stated by The Herald.

Lastly, the song not only highlights the important issues faced in today's society but also acts as a tribute to the 16 days of activism against gender based violence as stated by Tanya Lubbern,a regional director for Hivos Southern, according to The Herald.

Moreover the song is the third single of Ammara's sophomore album Flaming Lily as stated by other sources on the internet.

In conclusion,Tichichema is all about gender based violence as it is shown through Ammara Brown's past experience. The song acts as a message to the abusers and abusers to seek professional help.
