The 15th of June 2023, I experienced something special at the redefined concert in Harare, Zimbabwe. As I walked into the HICC venue at Rainbow Towers, my heart raced with excitement and anticipation. I've been to concerts before, but this one felt different. My first concert was Winky D's Eureka Eureka album launch, and I was eager to relive that magic.
As I arrived, I spotted some of Zimbabwe's talented artists like Kikky Badass, Voltz Jt, and Bling 4 from afar. I couldn't believe my eyes! It felt surreal, like a dream come true. I was too starstruck to approach them, so I just observed from a distance, feeling a mix of awe and shyness.
As I entered the venue, Jah Prayzah's electrifying performance drew me in. His stage presence was captivating, and the crowd was entranced. I couldn't help but record a few videos, but my mind was elsewhere - I was waiting for the main event, Winky D's performance.
Finally, the moment arrived! I managed to sneak backstage and watched as Winky D prepared to take the stage. I was seated in a chair, trying to play it cool, but inside, I was freaking out. As he began performing, I recorded as much as I could, recording song hits like "Shaker," "Disappear," and "Vafarisi." The energy was infectious, and I felt grateful to be witnessing this moment.
After the show, I saw Winky D briefly walking backstage from a distance, and it was a moment I'll treasure forever. This concert reminded me of the hard work and dedication Zimbabwean artists put into their craft. It was a night to remember, and I'm so grateful to have experienced it.
