There is more to the song "Try" by EXQ ft Ammara Brown than just the visuals.

Updated: Sep 12, 2023

EXQ (Enock Munhenga) released a vibrant visual single titled, "Try" on 29 October 2021. It features Ammara Brown. It was produced by Dj Tamuka & Rodney Beats. Moreover, the video was shot by Blaqs. The genre is Afro-Beats.

EXQ - Try ft. Ammara Brown
From the music video, "Try"

With a consistent afro-beat sound, the song seems to be about a misunderstanding between the two lovers. In the music video, we see two artists visit a couple's therapist (Yahya Goodvibes) to discuss their problems in their relationship. Therefore, they both try to make the relationship work. There are two sides to the story as will be explained in the following point.

EXQ's side

EXQ seems confused. For instance, he said that he buys everything, he takes care of the relatives, he always recites the totem etc.

Yet she still has a problem. He wonders if it's an evil spirit or something else. Therefore, he tries to make the relationship work as he says in the lyrics, "Ndide Ndikudewo (aghh) / Ndikudewo (aghh) / Ndipe ndikupewo (aghh)/ Ndikupewo (aghh)". In other words, he doesn't want a one-sided relationship. He wants her to want him back and when he gives, he expects her to give in return as well.

Ammara Brown's side

Ammara Brown expects him to take notice of her feelings and not take her for granted. She said in the lyrics, "Babe are you too broken? / To see how I'ma do for you / Please take a moment cause I'm falling for you.." She also doesn't want a one-sided relationship as she said in the lyrics, "Ndide Ndikudewo (aghh) / Ndikudewo (aghh) / Ndipe ndikupewo (aghh)/ Ndikupewo (aghh)."

After talking about their problems, they have resolved their problems. This is evident in the music video where the two artists start dancing and "kiss" at the end of the music video. It probably serves as a message that communication is crucial in a relationship.

Currently, the song is trending at number 1 on YouTube in Zimbabwe. Furthermore, the track acts as an introduction to his upcoming album, "Verified* Milestone." It is set to be released on November 1st, 2021.

In conclusion, in terms of the visuals, they are on point. The make-up, style and production are perfect. The afro-beat stayed consistent from start to finish catering for both artists singing vocals. The vocals from both artists were perfect for this production. Therefore I rate the track 10/10.
