Can't Go On Remix by Hopiho feat. Sabaya is about domestic violence

Hopiho

What is domestic violence?

According to Wikipedia, it states that, "Domestic violence is violence or other abuse in a domestic setting, such as in marriage or cohabitation ".

Domestic violence has become a serious threat for many women around the world. This is why on the album cover, you see a woman crying and has duct tape on her mouth. The tape could symbolize her being held a prisoner by her own abuser, the lover.

Moreover ,Hopiho not only talks about domestic violence, but also seems to mention the signs of the abusive relationship. These signs are shown on the song lyrics. For example, this is shown on the chorus :

"Tous les jours, elle lui dit

«Without you, I just can’t go on»

T’es pas méchant, t’es juste bourré

«Without you, I just can’t go on»

Rien à foutre si t’as un deuxième bureau

«Without you, I just can’t go on»

Son mec mérite d’être les barreaux,

Mais la victime protège le bourreau"

Which means:

"Everyday she tells him

"Without you, I just can’t go on"

“You're not mean, you're just drunk”

"Without you, I just can’t go on"

I don't care if you have a side chick

"Without you, I just can’t go on"

Her boyfriend deserves to be behind bars,

But the victim protects the criminal"

From the chorus,it gives a reason why women stay in a abusive relationship. Although their partner is abusive, they can't report him to the police because they love their partner so much. Another reason could be having low self esteem where they probably think they can't find someone else. Therefore, the song Can't Go On Remix is about women who are stuck in an abusive relationship because of their love for their partner.

Hopiho not only mentions the signs of an abusive relationship, but also encourages women to leave the abusive relationship. This is shown on the lyrics below:

"Uppercut sur uppercut

Il t’insulte, il t’injure

Tu encaisses en silence

Puis, tu caches tes blessures

Which means :

"Punches on top of punches

He insults you, he insults you

You take it in stride

Then you hide your wounds

You're smart, you're well educated

What are you doing with Beelzebub?

He's always persecuting you

That's not love, that's torture

A lot of people want to give you the moon

A lot of people want to make love to you

But you decided to be a garbage collector

So you're dealing with this scumbag

Open your eyes, baby

Open your eyes

You need to get out of this vicious circle

It's obvious you're not happy

You give so much, but you receive so little"

From the lyrics above, these are the signs of an abusive relationship. The signs are physical abuse, insults which is verbal abuse e.t.c.The song serves as a message to every women that they should know their worth and they deserve to be treated like a queen.

Although there are many cases of domestic violence towards men, children and women, the track Can't Go On Remix was dedicated to women. This is because they are the one's who are mostly effected by domestic violence. The song is about empowering women and to let them know that they deserve to be treated like a queen. Domestic violence needs to be stopped.

The song Can't Go On Remix was released on 25 May, 2020
