The Spanish singer-songwriter ALTEA combines different forms of art to design a multifaceted, raw and defined musical experience. Her sound is the definition of eclecticism. Inspired by the electric influences of London, the iconic romance of Spain and her connection with indigenous traditions since she was a child, her progressive R&B borrows colours from hip hop, soul, jazz and indie. In her lyrics, she tells us stories, from her love songs soaked in nostalgia to her empowered jams or reflective hymns. From a young age, ALTEA knew a light shines inside all of us. A light that inspires true creativity, a light that she reveals through her timeless music. After graduating from the acclaimed Jazz school in Barcelona ‘El Taller De Musics’, she spent 7 years in London where she was part of the vibrant underground music scene.
The emerging Spanish artist presents Gold, the first single of her new album that will be out in Spring. A jewel for your ears. With her progressive R&B and a voice that will touch your soul, Altea presents ‘Gold’. A controversial title for a song that invites you to reflect on the spiritual corruption of society orchestrated by money and power. This is revealed in the chorus where she said:
"Vicious vision / Superstition / Money, Power / All fictitious"
It highlights the message that money and power can lead to spiritual corruption. In other words, some will probably do whatever it takes for selfish gain at the expense of others. Therefore, it may inform others to be wary about the pursuit of money and power.
After living in England and becoming a fixture of the underground London scene, Altea dedicates two years to composing her first album between Spain and Paris where she works with Parisian producer Basile Peter. Her sound is the expression of eclecticism, inspired by the electric London influences, the Spanish romance and her connection to indigenous traditions since she was a child.
I like the message behind the track. I also like the soulful guitars and jazz-hop drums that blended well with the vocals. It is unique yet intriguing at the same time.Although, the track could have had a bit of depth to highlight the money and power aspect. Nonetheless, the track was all right. Therefore, I would rate it around 8.5/10.
