Zariyah Natalya released a five-song EP titled, "Endangered." It consists of an R&B that is poetic, angelic, and soulful. Moreover, it keeps a different alternative approach to her dynamic yet does not limit one's genre base.
While the track Repeat has strong influences of 90s RnB. It creates a cinematic atmosphere with heavy instruments. To add on, creating a dark serene mood, while remaining sensual in tune. The lyrics are also on the deeper side of things, open to the listener's take on the meaning to sonically connect to her artistry in their way.
"We been here before / Going through the same old, same old / Though I had shut the door / But nothing ever change though, change though / You don't hear the cries oh oh oh / Of these restless nights no..."
The lyrics about the track, "Repeat" can be interpreted in a variety of ways. In life, we face challenges that make us feel miserable and tired of suffering. For instance, failed relationships, poverty, death e.t.c. From my point of view, I believe the track, "Repeat" reflects that. After all, it is relatable to everyone since the lyrics are also on the deeper side of things, open to the listener's take on the meaning.
Zariyah moves effortlessly in time with the music. Many variances in some of her vocal abilities shine through. Seamlessly adding layering in new elements as well.
Endangered truly adds many additions to versatility. Zariyah allows her artistry to reach new levels with this project. For instance, her track “That’s Life.” It is an upbeat fun RnB/Pop track still filled with meaningful lyrics but in a fierce take.
Zariyah’s track “Half & Half” fits more of a Caribbean appeal since the artist has a family from Trinidad. The song allows her to pay homage to her family while giving us something to dance to with an RnB/Reggaeton feel. The entirety of her project gives us something new and exciting to look forward to and not knowing what to expect next!
In a nutshell, I love listening to the EP especially the track "Repeat." I played it more than once as I imagined various interpretations. I also loved the alternate smooth chill. It was perfectly suited for the message she is sending to her listeners. Therefore, I rate the EP, 10/10.
