Preach Beatz Release New EP - 'Complicated Love'

Preach Beatz released his EP on 31st August. With this fresh 4 - track EP 'Complicated Love', Preach Beatz has created an ingenious culmination of the soulful and rhythmically diverse sounds of Afrobeat with lyrics that embark on the complex journey of love and relationships as the young adult he is.

The self-titled track "Complicated Love" gives the listeners a glimpse of what to expect from the rest of the EP.

For instance, in the lyrics he says:

"Baby shay you dey want me or you no dey want me / Shay you tell me say some part of you dey love me / Wey you naa you tell me say you no dey want me / Wetin ago do now / Adey want you cos I'm in love with you"

From the lyrics above, he seems to be stuck in a situationship. A situationship is when one or two people participate in a romantic relationship, but one does not want to make the relationship official. In other words, the woman he loves is not transparent with her feelings. She does not know whether she loves him or not. She does not know whether she wants him or not. Yet despite her being unclear with her feelings, he still loves her. Therefore, it is complicated love.

Moreover, Preach Beatz said, "Complicated Love discusses the relationship paths of my real-life relationships as well as my experiences as a young adult who had no idea "what you desire or gain in a relationship," leading to heartbreaks and other problems."

Preach Beats draws on influences from personal aspects of the relationships he has experienced and how, in his words, he had, "no idea what you desire or gain in a relationship." Subsequently, the emotively personal lyricism and beats produced at the most grass root level in his home studio combine to create this stunning second EP from Preach Beatz.

Personally when I listened to the song, "Complicated Love", I found it very interesting and informative as it is something anyone can relate to. With a mixture of afrobeat and descriptive song lyrics, I rate the track, 10/10.

Who is Preach Beatz?

Preach Beatz began his adoration for the rich soundscape of Afrobeats music at a young age when he first started playing music with his high school friends back in Accra, Ghana. Following a move to the USA after graduating from the University of Ghana, Preach Beatz began mastering and mixing tracks for his friend. Still, it was only in 2021 that he recorded and released his debut, self-produced EP 'Beautiful Vibes,' which successfully charted at #48 on the US Seattle Top 50.

Following on from the success of this release, Preach Beatz continued to develop his music production and songwriting skills and utilise the 'wealth of inspiration,' from, 'actual stories,' he had experienced for this EP's lyrical journey
