MJ flows with Breana Marin for the single “DREAMS”

Updated: Jun 9, 2023

While recovering from a car accident, MJ penned “DREAMS” to ponder her musical aspirations' future openly. “DREAMS'' is a smooth yet blunt approach to the trials and tribulations of manifesting your desired life. Breana Marin lays an alluring hook with her ultra-sultry vocals. MJ approaches each verse with seriousness mixed with calmness to relay her message.

The beat crafted by producer DreamLife has recently done work for Summer Walker’s current hit album “Still Over It”.

MJ is not your typical female rapper who overly relies on sex appeal and a rough approach to sell a record. Instead, she uses intense lyricism and a more soothing flow to get her words across. The music video, shot by Pinkcheek Visions, is a visual masterpiece that uses more Earthy colourful tones to project the mood. MJ is an artist currently in Houston, TX seeking to break through the music scene using a completely different style than all the rest.

When looking at the lyrics, MJ proves to be a lyricist that pays attention to detail. She used rhyming schemes. For instance, she said:

"Money buys / Happiness / Fame gets you / Greed / Give you all / You want / But none / Of what you need" She gave an important lesson about the realities of chasing money and fame. It leads to greed.

"Slaving /Towards / My dreams / I'm living / With a gleam /Despite what / I tweet / Ain't nothing / What it / Seems" Despite her car accident, she continues to strive to become a talented musician rapper.

"Am I really / Worth the / Fight? / My sanity / Is out on / Strike" She gives a glimpse of what she felt after the car accident. It gives listeners a better understanding that she is a human being who also faces challenges.

The consistency of the beat is intriguing. The track is soothing. I like the meaningful lyrics and the message. MJ approaches each verse with seriousness mixed with calmness to relay her message. Therefore, I rate the track around 10/10. It is different from the trending mainstream music.
